The trip out to Teotihuacan is really very straight forward and easy (plus, it'll save you a bundle of money). From anywhere in the city, take the metro to the Autobuses Del Norte station. You exit the station right in front of the bus station.

From there head toward Salle 8 to get a ticket to 'Las Piramides'. The ticket costs $38 MEX or just under $3 US. Buses leave every fifteen minutes or so. We waited less than ten minutes after purchasing our tickets. The 50 kilometer ride is fairly quick once you get out of the usual congested city traffic. Upon arrival, you're deposited right at Gate 1 of the site. Admission to the ruins is $57 MEX which is very reasonable by all standards.
Avoid taking a hired guide. Instead, get a good guide book and read up on the site and it's history. Give yourself a good three hours to leisurely walk the length of the site and to climb both Piramides. Sitting on top of the Piramid of the Sun offers the best views of the valley. After climbing the 244 steps to the top, you'll want to linger a while. Getting back to DF is simply backtracking the route that brought.

After climbing the 244 steps to the top, you'll want to linger a while. Getting back to DF is simply backtracking the route that brought you there. So, as far as transportation goes, we spent $82 MEX or $6 US round trip. That would be a deal in any country! It was easy, comfortable, and safe!
More Show less. I am a sucker for history, and Teotihuacan is one of my favorite places in the world. I can not count in my 2 hands how many times I have been there.I love it. The pyramids are breathtaking once you are there, so is the energy of the whole town, its really hard to capture how stunning they are on a picture, it doesn't do it justice. Make sure you climb all the way to the top of the Sun pyramid! I always finish my visit, which always entiles a lot of walking and a lot of stairs, at one of the food stand on the surrounding area. Typical mexican cuisine street side.it is the BEST!
I found the ruins to be less than I had expected. We arrived and did a walk through, with a guide, climbed the Moon and Sun pyramids. The site is huge but perhaps not fully excavated limiting one to the northern end where the above pyramids are located. The fact the the walk between the 2 temples are littered with hawkers only diminishes the experience. Within a Mexican context not in the same league as Chitzen Itza or the ruins at Palenque and is nowhere near as impressive as places like Ephesus or Abu Simbel.
We took the Turibus day trip to the pyramids and it also included a couple of stops (Basilica for instance) and was brilliant dollar value. The pyramids are something to see and quite incredible. If you do as I did and walk to the top of the Sun & Moon pyramids, crab step rather than full on up and down the steps. The effect of galloping up and down front on will torment your thigh muscles and you will suffer for days.
The day ended with lunch at the nearby buffet International Restaurant and the food was sensational (though desserts were a bit naff as Mexican cuisine is not so imaginative with sweet dishes). We had plenty of time to explore and hear the stories of the pyramids. Note that the tiny stones dotted into the grout between the volcanic rock indicates that this is an area of reconstruction. I didn't know that! Take a reputable tour (and I recommend Turibus) and relax and enjoy the day.

Horticulturists have found that seeds placed inside the pyramid germinated more quickly and produced bigger, healthier plants. They are being used in both education and healthcare as it is believed that they relax and energise individuals. Pyramids have been built across the world on different sites which are virtually identical in terms of architecture, engineering, masonry and astronomical orientation. They are masterpieces and it therefore seems incredible that members of ancient civilizations using no mechanical and electrical equipment were able to create such unique structures.
